For over two centuries now, we have celebrated a festival of dancing, singing and music here in the twin island republic of Trinidad & Tobago. In current times, it is a fixed and well-loved tradition that Trinidad & Tobago Carnival is celebrated annually for the two days immediately before Ash Wednesday. Of course, we have numerous pre-carnival fete celebrations leading up to those two days, but the Monday and Tuesday (Carnival Monday & Tuesday) before Ash Wednesday are the big days.
