Trini Carnival 2010

Trinidad Carnival road march 2010 happens February 15 & 16, and on February 18, plans are afoot to have international R&B superstar Beyonce, perform in Trinidad as part of the post-Carnival activities.

It was hoped that she would perform at the Queen’s Park Oval, but Trinidad & Tobago are hosting the Windward Islands there from February 19-22 in the Regional Four-Day cricket competition, and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has reportedly issued an outright NO to a request from the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) that the match be delayed in order to facilitate Beyonce’s concert.

Although the match is scheduled for a day after and there were plans to cover and protect the pitch and field, an additional day would be needed in between the events in order to full prepare the ground for the cricket match. There will however be no change in the starting date for the cricket match. Interestingly, former International cricket star Brian Lara is said to be involved in the staging of the Beyonce concert, and it is said that he contacted West Indies Players Association (WIPA) president Dinanth Ramnarine to have the game delayed by one day in order to facilitate the concert, and that he agreed pending permission from the WICB.

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out, but as of now, it will not be hosted at Queen’s Park Oval, and no other venue has been confirmed as yet.
